Dan....I have read the review for a second time now and I'm not only extremely impressed by the review, I'm very curious about the product itself. I definitely look forward to an audition.

I would probably consider purchasing one, the only problem is that my office system would be the only system I could consider it for, and the physical size is a problem (desktop space). That's where my Wyred for Sound DAC-2 DSD/SE fits nicely. The Schiit is more like a full-sized component with its width.

Pete.......Yes, the Yggdrasil is nearly a full sized component (16" x 4" x 12" W-H-D), whereas the W4D DAC2 DSD/SE (8.5" x 4.25 x 13" W-H-D) is slightly taller and deeper but not as wide. I'll bet you could manage to squeeze the Yggdrasil in if you were moved enough by its performance to purchase it.

WidespreadPanic.......I would consult someone at an Apple Genius Bar, or an Apple tech at Best Buy. Depending on which iPod you own, USB to iPod connections can differ.

Just the Apple Camera Connection Kit, aka CCK.

My Yggdrasil DAC now has 845 hours of break-in and is now back in the living room sound system. I have continued to keep a digital signal applied to it since day one. This afternoon I was listening to the CD from Marcin Wasilewski Trio - Faithful. This is a well recorded ECM Records disc of piano, double-bass, and drums. The Yggdrasil portrayed the performance magnificently. All three instruments were fully developed and richly presented. The piano was crystal clear. Its diminishing notes hung so beautifully. The double-bass delivered a rich wood tone with deep definition and sustain to the notes. The drums revealed a remarkable clarity, striking dynamics, and cymbals had true metallic zest and lingering ring as they decayed. Like I said before, this DAC simply disappears. It is just me and the music. The Schiit Audio Yggdrasil is an outstanding digital to analog converter.

Dan,

I keep hitting this thread, reading and re-reading the comments. I just spent just over an hour because of your last comment.

The first hour listing to the CD you mentioned; Marcin Wasilewski Trio - "Faithful." Off the charts beautiful.

I then spent about 5 minutes ordering my Yggy.

Give the Hasouk Trio a listen. "Baldamore" is a live performance. You may like it.

Along with the others, thank you for an excellent review!

- Bob

Bob.......I am glad you enjoyed Marcin Wasilewski Trio - Faithful. ECM has a stable of great jazz musicians, and ECM's recordings always seem to be extremely well recorded. Thanks for the suggestion of Hasouk Trio - Baldamore.

Congratulations on ordering the Yggdrasil DAC. I am confident you will find it to be everything I have reported and then some. Looking forward to reading your impressions once you have it in your system with some hours on it.
