I just listened to it again via headphones: what it lost in thunderous bass it gained in micro detail! There's always a lot going on in his scores.

Ravel - Szymanowski - String Quartets
Quatuor Joachim Qobuz 24/44.1 The songs by Szymanowski we heard last night made us long for more of this composer. These 2 string quartets are hidden gems! The Ravel that is also on this album is a fantastic piece and one of my absolute favourite string quartets. I remember exactly the moment I consciously heard it for the first time. I was jogging through the countryside and listening to the radio through my in-ears. I immediately fell in love with it.

^^ All of their recordings are superb, both the playing and the sound.
She has added so many notes and ornaments that these are new pieces. I enjoy them, as well as her arrangements of Bach's Violin Sonatas and Partitas. Very close, clear sound. |

Still working my way through this 20-CD set. So far, just one disappointment, the 6th Partita. He plays it too fast for my taste.
