S-1200 is truly a great product. Very resolving, very transparent, without being harsh or thin IMHO. Great clear midrange as well.
It should serve you well.

I am very impressed and happy with the Krell S1200. Both 2 channel and multi-channel performance is outstanding. The Krell has fit in very well with Bryston and Sonus Faber.

I ordered the S1200 processor. It will be my first Krell per/processor. It will be mated to an Evolution 403E and two S275 amps for sides and rears.

That sounds like a strong foundation for your system. Which speakers will you be using/

Congrats, and let us know how it sounds! I'm also considering the S1200 as well as the Bryston SP3. What are you upgrading from, and did you compare the S1200 against any others? As Jim asked, what is the rest of your system? Curious minds want to know...

Jim,

Speakers are Revel Salon 2, Voice 2 , and two pairs of Embraces. The Krell equipment will be used for movies and some music. I also have an Audio Research Reference 5SE preamp and Ref 250 amps in the same system for 2 channel music. I do have to swap speaker cables to change system.

Jeff,
The S1200 is replacing a Parasound P7 multi channel preamp. I was using it with an Oppo 95. I did not do any comparison before buying the S1200.

I also have a blended 2ch/HT system and have Revel Salon 2's, powered by Mac mc452. I'm very interested to hear your impressions of the S1200, especially as it compares to the Ref 5SE. I don't expect it to match or beat the Ref5, but hopefully it comes close, as I'm looking for a one-box preamp solution for both 2ch and HT.

Several nice features on the Krell (compared to Bryston SP3): seems to have a pretty robust EQ, and the ability to set up 4 different "EQ profiles", which could be very useful when listening to older/poorly recorded CDs. Also, the remote seems pretty useful, with lots of quick button adjustment, ie, individual trim on the fly for all channels.

Very much looking forward to your impressions.

Jeff,

I will probably have the S1200 in a couple of weeks. I don't expect the S1200 to match the Ref5Se but I am hoping that it will close the gap a bit. There is a huge drop going from the Ref5se to the Parasound P7 which I use for casual listening. That's expected given the huge difference in price.

The S1200 will be my first processor with HDMI. I am looking forward to playing with the Krell EQ.
