Default Small footprint A/V amp

I currently own a Pioneer LX-72 but I find it too big and it won't fit in the cabinet I'm thinking of getting. I only use it for TV and BR watching so I don't really care about 2ch quality.

I'm trying to find an amp with a small footprint. The Marantz NR-1606 seems to be quite small. Is there any other product that could fit the bill ?

Second question: is there a solution to avoid cabling the surrounds ? It wouldn't be convenient in my new flat to have cables all over the place.

Anyone ?

Looking at the size of the different units, I've seen that Marantz and Pioneer have one that is slim. But they seem to be entry level units.

Yamaha, Onkyo and Sony have also units that are not very deep (under 33cm/13 inches) but they are usually larger in height.

Bluetooth might work for the surrounds, Georges.

Look at Parasound. Their Halo P7 7.1ch pre-amp might be something you could use.

Georges, the Classe Sigma processor is small, seems to be seriously good but it's not cheap.

Thank you Michael and Bart, I don't need something so advanced as my use is more basic.

I'm thinking of going toward the Denon AVR-X2200W as I can see a 4K TV in the near future

Denon is always a safe bet Georges, and you can add some mono blocks from Cédric later on.

I saw in your signature that's what you are doing. I still need to read your thread, I'm waiting for the weekend to do that.

I don't want to spend too much on home theater. I'm going for the bare system. I'm renting so I can't do a lot in terms of installations.

That Denon may just be the ticket, Georges. It has everything you need in a very well sized package.

Good luck with your search!

Georges, I have the Marantz 1605, the previous model, in a simple bedroom system. It works very well and sound is just fine for what I'm asking it to do. I've had it for about 18 months with no problems.
