That is the converter I use, bought it from ebay, I am sure there must be similar converters doing same job. It is very easy to operate. Think that converter as your cartridge, playing a tiny signal to your phono preamp. You get a test or burning in cd for your cd player, play it in repeat mode, connect rca outputs of your cd player into rca inputs of that converter, then connect another pair of rca connectors between output of converter and your phono stage. The converter gets the signal from cd player, reduces its voltage considerably similar levels to a cartridge. So implicitly your phono stage is getting a continious signal as similar magnitude to your cartridge. |

From it I know the power supply of Ref 10 is causing a lot of vibration, no wonder because it have 4 transformers. You can easily improve the sound of your system by putting the power supply unit on other rack, separate it from the main unit and your CD player. You will be amused by the improvement it brings. Let us know your result. |

Thank you TLi, I found the combination of ESS rack with Shun Mook GDR's to be most effective.

May I suggest to you that at least try to remove the power supply from the rack and put it on the floor in front of the rack. The cables should still be long enough and you don't need to rearrange the full rack. See if there is any difference? |

I'm game for just about anything were HiFi is concerned TLi, I may well have a go with your suggestion over the weekend. speaking of the umbilical cables I was rather surprised to find that the male/female connectors were manufactured from a hard plastic compound! On a piece of equipment at the price point of The REF10 I was expecting at least metal alloy.

Congrats on the Ref 10 Harlequin. I see we have similar systems. I can tell you the Ref 10 just continues to get better with time. I have had mine for a couple of years now. Recently upgraded the Ref 150 to SE and highly recommend the upgrade and the combo with the Ref 10.

Would it be too much of an imposition for you to post an image (through the grill should be fine) of the coupling caps as now sported on your SE upgraded REF150. I am considering a similar move and would also very much appreciate your impressions post SE upgrade. Last edited by Harlequin; 08-24-2015 at 04:59 AM. |

Harlequin - sure I will take pics and post. My REF 10 is clocking around 1300 hours.
Analog Brother and TMcD, as for the REF150 SE improvements - my experience so far has been a very noticeable improvement in resolution and micro dynamics, bigger stage and tighter and cleaner bass. My REF 150 was well broken in but since the upgrade have clocked about 60 hours. It is supposed to take 100 to 200 to reach full capacity so still evolving.
