Default Reference 750

Could anybody give some feedback in case he compared Ref 750 monos to Ref 250 and or 610Ts that they replaced? I have a pair of 610Ts and I am told by ARC that there is no factory modification to switch from 6550 to kt-120 so I am left with either keeping 610Ts or switching amps to either Ref 250s or Ref 750s. I heard good feedback for Ref 250, and I will have the chance to audition a pair soon with my system. I see almost no reviews/feedback on Ref 750. Thanks for the feedback.

Hi Gary,

Can you please put the links here, as I did the same but could not see any reviews. I could only find some for Ref 250s. Thanks.

Sorry for getting your hopes up. When I went back to look at each of the links from the search, they just talked bout the amp, not really reviewed it. They also said it wasn't at shows because they require 220V lines to meet their specs.

Strange - I know at less two owners who had their REF610T upgraded to use KT120s. The REF250 sounds more refined than the 610T with the KT120s, but once you get used to a 610T you risk finding it anemic. My friend who listened to both ended up buying the REF750 ...

If memory serves the last 610Ts left ARC with KT120s, same for the 110 and 210. I would not be in a hurry to change the 610s for 250s depending upon the efficiency of your speakers and size of the room.

Hi Microstrip, it seems this is a recent decision by ARC not to keep the factory kt-120 modification for Ref 210s and 610Ts. I am also aware some users switched their 210 and/or 610T to kt-120 upgrade previously. Did you mean your friend compared Ref750 to Ref250 or Ref610T before he bought Ref750? Thanks.

I used to compare 610T with 210 a couple of years ago and decision was easy for me since 610T seemed to be a different beast. I chose them to drive a pair of B&W N800s which still I have. I may say my listening room is large and acoustically treated enough to get benefit of power. As you said, no rush for me, at this stage, I will check what Ref-250 brings to my system compared to Ref-610t if any. Ref750 seems to be the real successor for Ref610T rather than Ref250 but additional cost as well as similar bias setup as Ref610Ts make that upgrade a bit problematic. I never get used to that auto bias mechanism of 610Ts which you do not have control over particular tubes or matches.

He listened to the REF610T, then the REF250 and bought the REF750 ...
