ETA movements
There are obviously those of you that know a lot more about watches than I do.
This site has actually re-kindled my intrest in them. why is it that quite a few collectors don't like ETA movements ?

Some think they are great inexpensive movements that belong in great inexpensive watches. I have a Stowa with an ETA. But I wouldn't pay a premium for a watch with an ETA movement. There is a perceived value in a company that makes all their own watch components. There are only a few companies that do. Ironically one of those companies is Seiko.
You can buy a raw ETA movement for around $300. Some companies completely disassemble them, finish and polish them, then reassemble for a complete movement in a very expensive watch. If you like the watch, there is nothing wrong with the ETA movement. It's really just watch nuts opinions.
