Ahh, ok. Beings the 27's and 56's sound different, I'll pick up a pair of 56's also to try. Thanks for the tip.

In my amplification system (Triode-strapped Inspire HO amp with the larger chassis and 20-Watt transformers, driven by the LP-27a), I prefer the 56's due to their openness/transparency over the 27's, the latter being a bit darker/warmer. Any decent 80 NOS tube and a Psvane 6SN7 makes this preamp transparent and musical, IMHO.

I would like to try one of those Psvane 6SN7’s. Never owned any of their tubes but had heard good things about them. Doesn’t the 6BX7 provide more current in the LP-27a Circuit? I have never really understood the difference between this and the 6SN7 in this Preamp.

Thanks. I'll have to give both of these different tube types a try in my preamp. The Psvane tubes ain't cheap. Anyway, thanks for the input guys.

No, they aren't. You may be better off with 6BX/BL7's in your application.

I recently had a Psvane 6sn7 UK go bad on me in less than a year. For that price I would hope for a longer life. Same experience on my Sophia 274b mesh plate. I'm not pining for Chinese tubes at the moment. |

Oh yea, you would think those Psvane tubes would last a LOT longer than a year. Thanks for sharing your experience. For now, I'm gonna stick to NOS. You guys know if there is a sonic difference between the halo getter vs. D getter in the 6BX7 tubes? I assume the D getter is the older of the two designs...At the price I may as well just buy both to try and report back.
