Anyone here upgrade from the 10.5i/Classic Tonearm to the 10" 3D?
I'm curious as to whether it was just a matter of dropping in the new arm wand (after mounting the cartridge, of course) and what you heard.
I'm pondering it but $2500 isn't trivial. |

I just upgraded. It is still breaking in and I am still finding my preferred settings, but It definitely seems more fluid, and I specifically played some of my troublesome records especially those with sibilance as I really hate it, and the new arm is much better. Much harder to set up, the CW is a mother to move. I know the set up it different but if the end result is much better I am ok with that. I will be mounting another cart on the 10.5 so I will compare the 2. Another issue is the change in tonearm wire material.

Yep, my Classic 3 10.5" arm is wired with Valhalla.

I'm probably going to pull the trigger this week on a 10" 3D arm.

You are gonna love it! Before you mount the cartridge and before you put it on the pivot, move the counter weight around a bit to loosen the seal on it(orings). It was on so tight I thought there was a screw I was missing!! Do not forget!! It takes a little bit to get the tracking weight adjusted because the CW is so awkward to move, but the counterintuitive makes it easy to fine tune, also a screw on the end for fine VTF.

I am pretty sure I read that the "10 inch 3d" is actually 10.5 inches, like the old Classic 3 arm. Just a data point.
