Default JBL SDP40HD Surround Sound Processor

The JBL SDP40HD THX® Surround Processor/System Controller with HDMI looks interesting. The looks remind me of Meridian. It features HDMI inputs and output, THX Ultra2 Certification using four 32-bit DSP engines, and supports Hi-Resolution Multi-Channel Audio over HDMI.

JBL Home Audio

The JBL S7150 amplifier looks good, too. It is 7 x 160 Watt THX® Power Amplifier,

I am pretty sure that the processor is a rebadged Lexicon MC-12HD. Thats ok, because both JBL and Lexicon fall under the Harman Speciality Group. Not sure about the Amp. It may have some guts from a LX, CX, RX, or ZX Lexicon. And the DACs seem to be the same as in the Levinson No.40, but the No.40 has a DAC for every channel, so it is fully balanced. But then come to think of it, I think the No.40 has the same DAC config (SHARC) as the Proceed AVP-2 had. But again, all these are under Harman, and I have too much useless knowledge under the hood.

I believe you hit the nail on the head. I wonder how the JBL SDP40HD Synthesis processor is priced againts the Lexicon MC012HD?
