dCS Rossini SACD/Redbook Transport coming
With no TEAC VRDS NEO™ VMK3 mechanism availability and no comparable unit available which met their standards, the dCS Rossini player left HQ as RB only.
After extensive testing, dCS is about ready to launch a SACD/Redbook Transport in May/June with a new Denon mechanism/sled. The new unit is huge & will not fit in the current Rossini player, so a separate transport box was necessary & is about 1.0 to 1.5 inches higher then the current Rossini player. Pricing has yet to be announced, but estimates are $20k - $22K. Therefore, if pricing holds and SACD playback is an important capability, a 3 box Rossini (DAC/Clock/Transport) total puts it in the 4 stack Paganini pricing which was just under $55K. Glad dCS found a mechanism that they are confident with for the long term. Will let time pass to see how it shakes out.
