Dan... Great idea for a thread. I went from a MC302 to the MC452 for my surround speakers and have no plans to part with it. The MC452 looks awesome just sitting there waiting to do something.

I'm in. About a month in.

My MC 452 is driving the upper panels of my vintage Infinity IRS Betas and is definitely starting to sound sweeter. The Betas are not forgiving of poor sources and the MC452 is starting to both enable that character and temper it at the same time. Yes, I know that seems odd. It is the fact that it makes the spread of good to bad sources expand and it is continuing to do so. What was harsh or bright (think Phil Collins ... But Seriously) is now less so and what was great (think DSOTM) is even more thrilling. But my old Uriah Heep MP3s or poor LPs are awful.

In the main, more of my collection now gives me goosebumps than not.

Now to be fair, I have made many changes nearly at the same time but I know what the MC452 did differently to what the MC352 did before almost immediately. It didn't take a burn in period to hear the speed and sweetness difference in the mid to upper ranges.

With the Betas, if it gets beyond 45 watts on the meters, you are made to pay attention to what is playing. I am using the 4 ohm taps.

Enjoying the ride. Oh, and the MC352 is handling the lower columns without breaking a sweat. I have more than enough power on hand to drive the Betas.

Craig

Default 452 Club

I have a 452 hooked up to a AR REF 5 se connected to a pair of SF Strads that are not broken in quite yet and it sounds pretty darn good. So I guess I'm in the club, and I'm happy.

Joined Aug 2011. First one sold by my local dealer.

The mangled mess is not really that bad - I have cleaned it up a bit.

I hope to be a member of the club soon! I just scored a store demo unit of a C2300 that I'll be picking up this weekend. It's my first McIntosh piece.

My question to you MC452 owners is: how many units can you bench press?
