What ProJect basis do you use under the C220?
Did you tried with and without the basis and what is the (sound) diference?

I have used Solid Tech Disc of Silence under the C220, but the sound is much batter without them!

Thanks,

Pro-Ject Ground It Deluxe 1 & 2 (steel spikes). First I didn't have any "extra" underneath the components. Then I tried Blue Horizon spike shoes (really cheep way to experiment these kind of things) and it was a little better: little more open sound without loosing its focus. The Pro-Ject bases does the same thing but the improvement is much more clear, the sound is more focused and tight in a good way and at the same time there is more natural air. These all a pretty minor when done with one component but when the whole system is "treated" it all adds up to good improvement.

I've tested different spike shoes with the turntable and you can get even a little muddy bass from it with the wrong selection (Blue Horizon didn't work here) and get a nice tight and punchy bass (Naim Fraim or Clearaudio's own hard steel shoes). So in some cases the differences are quite large.

So I see your point that you really have to test these things in your own setup and listen - not just add everything to it that some has said to be good

I try to see the base "tuning" as a necessary part of the hobby; everyone has done it even if not fully aware of it. Every component sits on a some kind base. It can be the floor etc. but there is always something. Dedicated audio racks are probably better but I'd still test if there is improvement to be found.

Close field indeed It's about 2,0m from the listening point to the middle of the line between speakers' front plates.

At first it took some time (not much tough) to familiarize yourself with it. But when you get used to it, I wouldn't trade it anymore. I like being in the centre of music rather than observing it in a distance so to speak.

Most visitors I've had would like to listen from a 2,5-3,0m distance but still some have found the 2,0m distance also good after a little while listening to the system. It just takes a little time.

My work in progress… Hence the empty space on the bottom right of my Blinn rack! I'm extremely glad I bought the RF7's.

Andy,

Nice system. Curious about your audio racks. They look like Copulare, but are missing the Copulare tag, so I am assuming these are a very close competitor to Copulare. Can you reveal the rack name please? Thank you.

I had occasion to take this photo for another purpose and thought I'd post it here. Tannoy Canterbury SE speakers, McIntosh 60th Anniversary C22 and MC75 amps. I'm still working on getting the room treatments done, the Vicoustics Wavewood bass panels in the corner behind the speaker are loaners. I should have mine in a color that better matches the walls before too long. Plus, I ordered four matching wall panels.

I'll come back with a little photo essay when I finally get the room together. This is makeshift but I thought it was a cool photo.

Very nice system and listening space, look forward to seeing the finished room!
