What does he do to it?

Has Dennis ever built a PSE like this for customers with EL34/KT77/KT88s in a SIDEWAYS configuration kinda like this (6f6g ?) amp?

What is the highest output tube recommended for this amp? The OPTs look a bit large for what would be needed for 6F6s.

Default El84

I must say that my EL84 tubes have never sounded better than in my PSE.

I've always liked that warm EL84 sound. Have owned EL84 amps from Dynaco, Eico, Cary, and have one of Dennis' early SE EL84 amps. Have liked all of them. But they really sing in the PSE. Surprising, to me, how strong the lower bass is from this amp, none of my other EL84 amps have sounded so powerful.

Don't know how much I will use them, have a lot of tube rolling to do over the next several months.

I found a nice EL84 to 6V6 (octal) adapter on Amazon. From VHT. I have a couple of the common gold-colored ones as sold on eBay. The pins are so super tight on those that one pretty much commits an EL84 to that adapter for life.

Speaking of EL84 tubes, I love the new production Gold Lion N709. Perhaps not quite the match of the very best vintage but very good. I like them better than my vintage RCA, GE, and Sylvania. Better than new production Sovtek and Mullard - which come from the same factory as the Gold Lion but have different construction.

Yeah, you'll be rolling tubes for a while. Try various directly heated rectifiers.
Remember, no directly heated rectifiers.

That's a PSE with gas voltage regulation. It can use many different tubes.

I have about 10 various directly heated rectifiers: 274B, 5U4G/B, 5Y3/G/GT

What happens if one accidentally sticks an indirectly heated rectifier in it?
