The Mc 402s & 803Ds are an excellent combination. The 803D IMO is a bit overlooked in B&W's lineup since it's the top speaker just below the iconic bowling ball 802D & 800D models. When you look at the price/performance ratio, it's a terrific buy, especially in your case with the demo.

Here is a really bad pic from my iphone. We are in the process of redoing our L/R. I had just moved all the gear to get an idea. Moved tv from different wall the center channel used to be mounted on wall below it. Debating on going to in wall surround speakers. Thats why no stand for center channel. Same with racks deciding whether or not to have cabinets built on each side of fireplace. Really like the sound of the 803d's.

Once they broke in ( around 100 hours or so ) the soundstage just opened up and the harshness calmed down and the bass came in nicely! I called another dealer and asked about his floor models and he told me that they never sell the floor models because the speakers take a long time to break in. I think the tweeters on the 804s' are the same used in the 803d's. If this is right I'm wondering what the reason might be that they sound so different? Maybe it is the difference in height off of the floor?

. I would like to upgrade from my pair of 804S. First thing is these are so much bigger than my 804S's. So far listened to 3 CDs and I really like how they sound. 
The tweeters are not bright like my speakers and the soundstage is much wider and deeper. Guess I may have to hustle and sell my 804S's. I really would hate to box these up and take them back.
