I signed up as a guest a few months ago when I was surfing through the TT forum and finally signed up as a member tonight. I hope all you Mac aficionados don't mind my obsession with ARC gear . Hope to learn a lot here and contribute wherever I can. Thx

Cyril

Good to have you aboard Cyril. ARC makes some great gear. I've had my share of ARC over the years. How did you make out with a TT?

Thx twodot and Serge . Serge, I have not yet pulled the trigger on a tt yet. Still going through the research and auditioning process. Listened to the VPI Scout with a Dyna 20X cart and Simaudio LP5.3 phono and it was ok but did not blow me away. At the same dealer also listened to the Basis 2200 with a modded RB250 arm and a Nagra BPS phono (battery powered unit) and same Dyna 20X cart and was blown away but I am not going to put down that kind of dosh on my first tt. I liked your approach which is to get a very decent table/cart/phono combo to start out with and see if vinyl is for me and if yes, the upgrade bug will always be there to bite at the next chance. I am waiting to hear the new VPI Classic next That seems to be getting a lot of good user feedback. Thx for asking and I am sure I will be posting a bunch of questions on the vinyl forum as I narrow selections down. Take care.

The VPI Classic is getting much buzz lately and is supposed to be a great sounding TT. Also give SOTA tables a listen unless you don't care for their looks. I was impressed recently with a SOTA.

Thx for the heads up on SOTA tables. Not sure if there are any local dealers but if yes will certainly add them to the list of tts to check out.
