The Mc 275 is Very competitive and can hold its own at its price point. If you need more power you can run 2 in mono. I have used it with my sonus Faber grand pianos , a vintage JBL and a reissue JBL 4312 and it makes all of them sing.

I plan to get the twenty5.23’s later this year and have no hesitation regarding the MC275’s ability to drive that speaker..
Thank you very much for the reply. I have it in mind.
Could you hear the PMC COR integrated amplifier?

Hello everyone. About two weeks ago I was speaker shopping and ended up with a MC275VI it’s my 1st tube amplifier. So now I may sell my ss amp since I’m REALLY... enjoying the 275. But I still need speakers. Learning about new considerations I need to have when matching up speakers with tubes. It was not an issue with my ss amp. Down the rabbit hole I go....

LOL Just found this thread, I've had my MC275s since 1/2013, they were my birthday present.

Alas, all things must come to an end (temporarily), one of them blew a fuse last night. I found this thread looking for the correct fuse type. I'll get some tomorrow and be again, I'm glad I have spare tube sets on hand!

Hello all. Just joined the forum. I'm trying to figure out which direction to go in next. I have two MC275's in the main system driving Tannoy Definition DC10A's. When in strapped mono, I've noticed the upper frequencies sound noticeably veiled, and there is loss of attack on the leading edge of transients, but the soundstage is more expansive, the tone on guitars is better, and so is the sustain on drums. It seems most here in the MC 275 club who've tried both prefer strapped mono, and are running 3-way or greater speaker systems. Those couple of forum members (including, I think, Formerly Y2B) who thought the amp actually sounded better in stereo mode were running monitor speakers, which are usually two-way systems. My speakers are floorstanders, but are two-way. So, I'm starting to think that the type of speakers used accounts for the different experiences people have. Can anyone shed some more light on this? I'd really like to get the best of both worlds, but a different set of speakers might be required to get there. Is there a set of speakers that are especially well matched to the MC275 in dual strapped mono?
Thanks.

Anyone care to weigh in on what they consider to be the ultimate speaker pairing for the MC275, and whether that would be with the amp in stereo or in a strapped mono pair?

Can't comment on 'the ultimate' speaker. But, like one versus two MC275s, what sounds the best to you (or more important, me ) is all an individual choice. If I were to go back to tubes it would likely be with a Pair of 0/93 or 0/96 Devore speakers.
