Default XA 60.5's

Just wondering if there are any XA60.5 owners (or really any XA series) who have had luck with changing out the power cords....I haven't tried any yet, but am leaning towards Shunyata, after an improvement on my Mc C500 preamp.

On a side note, so far (8 months) I'm happy with my purchase. It was either these or McIntosh 501's. I've paired them with Tannoy Kensingtons, and I'm really starting to get them tuned in.

I have no experience with the 60.5's but I am familiar with other Pass offerings and Nelson's designs usually always have top notch power supplies in place that I can't imagine would be susceptible to power cord changes.

Before spending any money on power cords I'd shoot him an email asking him for advice on this particular amp.

^ I hadn't heard of those before, thanks very interesting. Are they fairly flexable, and do they come out of Britain?

relatively flexible considering how huge they are

here's a very recent review of the entire Sablon power cable line:

sablon

(and yes, out of britain)

I just received a pair of X600.5 amps, and each one has a Ztron Python cable. I am at the point where anything I buy for either the two channel or HT automatically gets a Shunyata PC ordered right from the start.

Check out the Sablons if you think Shunyatas are good.

Hallo,

I have a Passlabs combo.

Xp20 and X250.5 and Xa100.5.

Normaly a power cord is much more important (=give you a sound improvement) with the premapli (before the powerampli)
of course dont use a computer pwer cord for the xa60.5! but a "good cable" is enough.

In a hifi system the powercord more important is the cable from the source!
No other power cable give a sound improvememt in a system.
-> I will invest 1000$. for the source and the preampli and 500$ Max. for the powerampli.

I have these amps.. The manual states you're welcome to try expensive power cables, but hints at the fact no difference should be audible... And why would it, with a properly configured inbuilt power supply. In fact it would be a pretty shoddy amplifier that is fragile enough to be sensitive to a 1m wire connecting it to the mains...IMHO
