Default HRS and Stillpoints With ARC Ref Equipment

Hi,

So I have now received the HRS de-couplers and top plates.

Initial findings are that the feet are significantly better than the Black Ravioli - image is better focussed, more depth and control.

However I am not sure about the top plates. I have tried with and without. It seems to make the image a bit darker and looses some air. Has anyone else found that? I need to experiment more though!

Also, has anyone used them with the ARC Ref gear? I am not sure their impact and even if it is a good idea to place on top of the units due to ventilation.

Lastly has anyone done any comparisons between the HRS and Stillpoints?
Thanks
Marc.

My personal experience with HRS, Stillpoints, Symposium and others are that HRS although costing a bit more, delivers the best value in isolation and sound quality.

As far as the damping plates go, experimentation is the key. I use them on virtually every piece of gear I own.

Marc...I use the HRS Nimbus decouplers/spacers underneath my Ref CD 7 and I have found as you have better focus and resolution. I experimented with the dampening plates on top of my CD 7, the Ref 3 pre, and my Ref 110 and to be honest with you, I could not hear their impact. Now this was a long time ago and I don't recall experimenting with different positions on top of the gear so I may have just not given them a proper chance but I do found the Nimbus isolation decouplers/spacers to be quite effective

I've never heard my ARC dealer get so excited as when he told me about his experiences with the HRS platforms. They just picked up the line several months ago. It made me really want to try them, but my audio money has other earmarks at the moment, so I don't even want to try them until I'm able to purchase.

Cool, thank you for your replies.

So I have managed to get some Stillpoints to try next week. I will then be able to demo the two together.

So far, I know I love the HRS Nimbus decouplers, but as stated above, not 100% sure on the damping plates.

In terms of placing the damping plates on the equipment, would there be any issues in terms of heat dissipation?

Thanks again
M.
