yeah, not a fan of the C8's style ... trying too heard to look old school, but with no real functional reason.

I actually like the look of the C8 in fact I was about to order one but then my dealer offered me their display C52 since they just replaced it with a c53 for less than the C8 so I'm going to get that instead.

taste is after all subjective ... no right or wrong, and a product for every market!

It's a logical update to the D150 with some added analog features so it can easily be used on it's own or as a headphone amplifier add on to another preamp, AVP, or integrated.

On the front I got rid of the plastic buttons since I feel like that's the only semi cheap feeling part on any McIntosh preamp. I also added the higher quality headphone jack/amp from the MHA150 and a larger VFD since there are no longer any buttons to get in the way.

On the back I added an unbalanced analog input and corresponding pass thru jack. I also added an RS232 input and the DA2 module obviously. In order to make more room for the 2 additional 1/8" jacks I rotated the power input 90 degrees.

Who else would like to see something like this?

Nice job. I would buy one.

They should pay you for the design and save a mint on development cost. Well done.
