Why don't you have your son and his friends do band practice in the garage so you can take back your finished basement and have a better listening arrangement for your speakers?

Tell him it will be easier for everybody in the band because the garage has easy access for loading and unloading the cars/vans with their stuff and they won't have to carry their equipment up and down stairs. . . . Can you tell I've been there? in the band that is?
