Yep, I've always enjoyed SF for that, especially any strings! Euphonic and romantic.

Although I didn't attend the Cape event, my thoughts mirrored Ivan's, before I even read his post. I believe that the finer the system (speakers), the more any type of music will be graced. YMMV.

I remember when I was looking for a new set of speakers, I had narrowed the list to PMC, ProAc and SF. My first reaction to the SF was 'man are those sweet'... I immediately concluded that these speakers, regardless which model, would be simply unbeatable when listening to classical music... At the time I wanted to get a speaker that would have more 'punch' to play Blues music...but also sound excellent with Jazz, Classical and Rock.

I'll admit I spent more time listening to PMC's and ProAcs and it was a close call between the two. I have always wondered if I should have spent a little more time with the SF, they were quite different and I did enjoy what I had heard, but their price was out of my range.

I now find it interesting that my first impression was not unique. I won't say that SF can't handle Rock... The Cape extravangza was proof of that I spent a fair amount of time listening to the SF driven by Bryston gear to know I would be very happy to have them at home.

As an attendee at Ivan's last July, I will also vouch for this - pretty much the best sounding demo on Ivan's 2-channel system!

Oh God, I need to rack my brain on this one and try and come up with a list. I should say, first, that I would not even bother demoing what I consider to be ugly speakers (or should i say ones that visually I find incompatible...) although I don't actually mind the classic box looking speakers.

I will get back to you once I turn my brain on.

Hi all,

Hope I am doing this in the right section. I am so very impressed with all of your beautiful Sonus faber systems. Amazing.

I'm a big fan myself of Sonus faber, having heard most of them and having owned Grand Piano's, Cremona Auditors and currently Electa Amator II. A bit simple maybe compared to what I am seeing here, but for me the EAII's are amazing things.

I drive them with a JJ 828 tube Amp. Eight KT 88's, producing 70 watts. I love the combination.

Is that a CJ Gat? What amp are you using with it? How does it compare to the Musica?

Rock.......The very same SF Amati Anniversario speakers you listened to driven by Bryston during the Cape Event now sit in my studio driven by MC2301's. These babies can rock. Try listening to Stevie Ray Vaughan "Tin Pan Alley" from his Couldn't Stand The Weather album or SACD. Crank the volume and enjoy. The Anniversario's are no shrinking Violet.

This Tin Pan Alley tune is a great test for speakers. I bought mi e after listening to this particular track on the Wilsons and compared it to the PMC's on the same track.
