Oppo BDP-103 in the house....
Just catching up a bit here gang.....
You may recall not long ago I took the plunge and purchased an Oppo BDP-105D Blu-ray player for my main system... http://www.audioaficionado.org/home-...05d-house.html Well, since I've been so pleased with that purchase, and since my master bedroom rig still lacked a Blu-ray player, I grabbed a second Oppo player, the BDP-103. The player arrived on Saturday, June 11. This completes the milestone of having Blu-ray playback capability on all four of my systems. My trusty Pioneer Elite DV-09 player has served me well for many years in that system, it is a fine player with great build quality and cosmetics. So it made sense to replace it with a quality player, and the Oppo BDP-103 fits that bill perfectly. Its fit and finish is superb, as is its performance. Here's a few shots of the new player in its new home... My little bedroom rig is actually becoming a fairly full blown setup. Here's a couple shots behind the scenes.... Since my Pioneer DV-09 was a fairly large component, the lower profile BDP-103 allowed me to also move my JVC D-Theater Digital VHS machine from my main system to the bedroom. I wanted to do that to downsize the living room rig just a little, and the JVC's silver finish didn't quite look right with the rest of my black gear in the living room. I'm happier with the "look" of my living room rig now: Like the BDP-105D, the Oppo BDP-103 is a superb performer. I've been enjoying it immensely. While I did not opt for the Darbee edition, this is a superb player nevertheless. Of course, within minutes of setting the player up on my network, a firmware update notification appeared which I installed right away....smooth as silk. I couldn't be happier with the Oppo BDP-103. I'm even considering upgrading my Integra DBS-30.1 Blu-ray player in my office with another Oppo BDP-103. One gets spoiled very quickly by the fine video performance, great sound quality, very nice build quality, and seamless firmware updating of the Oppo products. You really can't do any better IMO. Another 5/5 rating for Oppo....
