Potential Stradivari owner!
Hi Folks,
Just when I thought I was done with a super optimised and sublime system, along comes a temptation. I am about to pull the trigger on Violin Red Stradivari's. The speakers were manufactured in 2013 I would have to sell some things to fund the acquisition I am a bit nervous. What do you think? Last edited by jdandy; 08-06-2016 at 12:51 PM. |

Haha Douglas, Audiophilia Nervosa!!
A most dangerous but pleasant disease. It is incurable, so just succumb... By the way, Stradivaris are gorgeous speakers: the looks, the sound.

I cannot believe the scale of these speakers. I auditioned them on an Audio Research 75SE, which is not ideal, but I could not believe the scale of these speakers. Performers were literally lifesize and vocals were just sublime. I can see what the fuss is about, it's ;like love at first sight. I think I going to get them |

So I am sure you are not hearing the true potential of this speaker with ARC 75SE |

I use a Burmester 911 MK3 and its a magical match with the Strads with supreme bass control. |

What Amplifier to drive Stradivari?
Quote:
My Stradivari will be delivered for my HT system very soon. I will love to have the Burmester 911 MK3 to drive the speakers but I feel that it may be over killed for a HT system and it is quite expensive. I may go for Pass Labs X250.8 or X350.8 (much cheaper as compare to Burmester ) for the front 2-channel amplifier. Currently I am using Theta Dreadnaught III to drive the front 3-channel. I feel that I need a better amplifier to drive the Stradivari Any suggestion what amplifier to drive the Stradivari is most welcome |

Douglas, like you, I thought I was done with speaker choices but after my purchase of the Strads I am really done. They are speakers for life.

I am hoping it can also do justice to music like, Stevie Ray Vaughan's Tin pan Alley, Dire Straight's Love over gold, and a big scale live albums such as Chris Botti's Live in Boston, and Natalie Merchant Live in New York as well as Johhny Lee Hooker best of Friends and anything by Sade ....If the Strats are that versatile then I am there! |

To Put it in another way
The Strads has a little bit of Sophia Loren, sophia Loren.jpg and also a bit of Claudia Cardinale claudia-cardinale.jpg But I really also hope she has bit of Brigitte Bardot brigitte bardot.jpg |
