Hi Mark,
A DOE is a Design of Experiments. A statistical approach that lets you examine multiple factors driving or impacting a "functional response" (what's measured) simultaneously as well as examine the interactions between the factors, etc. Here are a few introductory vids on YT. With your professional background, you'll get the gist of it pretty quickly. Its based on ANOVA. https://youtu.be/tZWAYbKYVjM https://youtu.be/oajPmqCffLU

Thanks...been a while since I thought "stats". To answer your question, I have a full active setup for speakers. That affords numerous points where the Denali 6000/S v2 can replace point-to-point between digital amplification together with an LPSU+RoomEQ processor device direct into the wall from each device with the new Denali with it DTCD and QR/BB capabilities, etc....in the middle. The list is; 1000W digital amps in each of 2 Legacy Foundation Subwoofer & Bass Units 2x750W digital amps in each of 2 Legacy Caliber XD Custom-built (1 15amp cord into each speaker) 1 Legacy Powerbloc2 dual-mono (2x325W dual-mono design) driving the high-frequency inputs to the Caliber XDs only 1 HDPLEXX Generation 2 100W LPSU built to drive Legacy Wavelet (takes DC on XLR5 input) 1 Legacy Wavelet which I am using for multidimensional RoomEQ (time also being considered in all the target function evaluations points on the frequency response curve) using the DC power provided by the HDPLEX. Note that the Wavelet is used with 8 simultaneous outputs to provide the utmost control over RoomEQ over all 4 frequency major bands L and R (sub-bass/bass, mid-bass, midrange, treble). The Wavelet is also capable of being used as a self-standing DAC and Line Pre-amp via its digital inputs but I'm not using it in that way as my Esoteric D-02 is driving the Wavelet via its analog XLR inputs. All this adds to a lot of points where Denali 6000/S v2 I believe will make a big difference with its current delivery and noise-filtering/isolation capabilities. DOE: Could construct quite the model based upon all the points above I think but frankly I'll just listen and see how I like the result ! FWIW... Ha!
That's quite a sophisticated setup, Mark! Impressive. So, if I understand, this is a fully active loudspeaker system, with indepedent amps driving, respectively, the subs, the main speaker driver(s), and then the tweeters of the speakers? And then, the Wavelet provides real-time, in-room corrected frequency response (incl. the time domain)? Yep, sounds like the new Denali 6000/S Version 2 is just the ticket for you... And, yeah, I'd pass on the DOE and just listen!

I am literally “on call” today, awaiting my dealer’s scheduled receipt of his Shunyata order.

The new Sigma looks really great for a product not designated in their reference line.

I'm not sure if this is slightly off topic or a new thread is warranted, but if a person already owns a PS8/Defender/Delta NR and wanted to buy a Denali 6000/T or 2000/T. What is the proper order of hooking up these two (Denali and PS8) power distributors:
1. Should they be kept in separate outlets? 2. Or one plugged into the other ~ if so which one plugged into the other and into the outlet? 3. If one is hooked into the other should the Defender still be used? 4. Is a Delta NR or Venom NR a suitable choice of power cable for the Denali or does one need to use a higher level cable? Thanks! |

You can certainly plug them into separate outlets. How you use them really depends what specifically you need to do with each of them. What I'm not sure about is why you'd want to plug a Venom PS8 that is powered with a Delta NR and uses a Venom Defender for even more noise reduction into the Denali? And, you'd be using a valuable Denali receptacle that could be used for another component. For me, it comes down to my requirements: I have a fairly distributed system with three distinct zones that require clean power, and two of these zones are not located anywhere near the main audio rack. If I had a PS8 with a Venom Defender and a Delta NR, I'd be using that to power my Mac Mini music server that's in the study. Or I'd be using it in the zone that powers my upstream fiber media convertor. Per your last question: "4. Is a Delta NR or Venom NR a suitable choice of power cable for the Denali or does one need to use a higher level cable?" The answer is YES. If you use the Venom NR, you should use an NR-V10 for a power distributor. Of course, you will need a C19 plug for either power cord. If you give us more insight into what your specific needs are, we should help provide more specific info, hopefully...

I currently have a PS8 and don't have enough outlets for my setup. So I also use a SurgeX that has an additional 6 outlets. The PS8/Defender/Delta NR are plugged into one outlet on the wall and the SurgeX into the other. My system includes the following components: Plugged into PS8: 1. Mac C220 Preamp 2. Decware Taboo MK II Amp 3. Mac D150 DAC 4. Rega RP6 TT 5. Subwoofer 1 6. Subwoofer 2 7. 65" HDTV 8. Defender (into the first plug of the PS8) Plugged into SurgeX: 8. HTPC 9. Pioneer Elite UDP 10. NAS 11. Switch 12. Cable Box Hopefully within another year a set of Decware UFO25 mono block amps, so I will need 13 total outlets available. So one PS8 won't cover it (hence the SurgeX). The SurgeX is pretty decent, however it's not as good as a Shunyata product and I was thinking about trying to swing a Denali at some point, but a Denali 6000/T won't have enough outlets by itself ... I can't afford 2 Denali's (plus 2 Denali 6000/T wouldn't cover it anyways). So my thoughts were to keep my PS8 and then add a Denali to expand my outlet coverage and then retire the SurgeX to my bedroom system. As another less expensive alternative, I was thinking about buying a Denali 2000/T and plugging the PS8 into one outlet on the Denali and the SurgeX into the other outlet on the Denali. Not as optimum as a Denali 6000/T + PS8, but more optimum on my wallet. |
