Some of our Portuguese booty. We are drinking the 10yr old Niepoort tawny at the moment, which I neglected to add to the photo. The cherry liquor on the right is the original which sells for about $10 and has a couple of dozen cherries at the bottom. When we get to that point we'll be having them with some good vanilla ice cream. We tried a couple of the more 'up scale' cherry liquors and the original blows them away.

Default Sandeman 10yr Port

Dinner at the Red Room in Ventnor last night was excellent. House-made pasta and bread. We all agreed that both were the equal of anything we've had in the southern half of NJ. Equal to the good food & service were the wine & port (we prefer BYOB). A most excellent Saint-Émilion and southern Côte du Rhône as well as a 'good' Haut Medoc and very average Medoc. Aw, well.......... we got what we paid for. To top the evening we had a 10yr old Sandeman port. Was 500ml bottle and we did it some damage. We will be gathering for New Year's eve and have agreed that we'll step up to a 20yr or 30yr bottle of same and maybe cut back bit on the champagne for that meal (rib roast & lobstor). Happy New Years, all.

After a glass of Laphroaig, this is an even finer malt:

I don't like to spend a fortune on whisky, and for about 40€ a bottle, this is a bargain!

Colleagues, I shall be enjoying Columbia Crest HHH ( Horse Heaven Hills ) Cab.
We are fortunate here in the Peoples Democratic Republic of Washington of having some darn good beer, wine and spirits.

Pretronius

Hail Audio!

Indeed.......... we cab drinkers have been living in good times. Not a bad vintage this century from pretty much anywhere (France, USA, SA, Australia, etc.). Obviously, some better than others, but all better than good.
