I got my Ayre MX-R's in that price bracket. Another worth considering.

Thank you ChrisMag for the heads-up about JC5. Parasound has always been one of my favorites.

The MSRP for JC5 is $5995.

Forgot to mention the Benchmark AHB2

Get two, run them bridged mono. 480W into 6 ohms.

Only $2,995 each.

The JC5 seems like a direct competitor to the Bryston 4B3. It would be interesting to hear the amps in comparison -- not a "shoot out," as I know the 4B3 is outstanding, and I expect the JC5 will be, too -- but to see how much sound might vary among two modern SS amps with solid engineering and attention to sound.

I had a chance to listen to the JC5 for a few hours this weekend. My local dealer is the first in the US to get one - the rest went to reviewers. Compared to the A21 which we A/B'd, it's a major step up in clarity, bass control, high frequency refinement and overall detail. The same dealer as D'Agostino M400 monos and Theta Citadels monos and the JC5 compared favorably. The M400s are really special but for 1/10th the price, the JC5 really does a great job. The dealer opined that the JC5 was a refinement of the JC1s in terms of sound quality.

I would not be surprised if the JC1s see an update in the next year or two based on the JC5's design. I'm told it was a 4-year project for John Curl, Richard Schram and the rest of the team.

I put down my $$$$ for the JC5 which is shipping in June.

Congrats! Looks like a fine amp. Are you going single or two?

Just the one. I can't imagine needing more power. I think if I were willing to spend north of $10k on amps, I'd be looking at Pass Labs monos. Truth is, the A21 was plenty... I'm looking to the JC5 for the improvement in SQ and the little extra class-A headroom (7.5 vs 12w). My speakers are pretty efficient so 12w should be plenty for normal listening.

Hi mate, hope you’re still enjoying your jc5, I’m in the market for a Parasound and trying to decide between the a21+ or the jc5, anything more you can add that may help me ? I’m looking to partner the power amps with a tube pre amp.

Cheers.
Billy.
