Default Polk SDA SRS ll

I bought a new pair of SDA SRS ll in 87 . I still have them as they were replaced with new B&W's 800'Ds
I just saw a pair of small Polk SDA , almost book shelf small, put a bid on them .
I now want to set up a kind of vintage 80's type system .
I was always impressed with the autoreverse of the Nakamichi cassette decks.

If you pick up a pair of SDA bookshelf speakers, be sure they're the single tweeter model. The single tweeter model is much better sounding.

Over on the Polk site you say SDA and it's like the sound of G-D himself was talking. My I have mirror pair of DCM Time Frame 350s and they tell me they are a very good speaker it's like SDA lite. in respect to the soundstaging and clarity. These when they come up and of course it depends on what model and what mods have been done go for some good coin.I never heard them but it is their holy grail

I loved the Polk SDA back in the day....in the late 80's they were killer speakers.

Hey Zorad, I recently acquired, from my girlfriend, a pair of Polk SDA SRS 2's Blade/Blade IC. They started this whole madness I find myself in. I just bought a Mcintosh C50 and I am in the market for an Mc 452 to power them with. I had a pair of Denon 6600 monoblocks that blew 3 drivers, as you know you need an amp with a common ground. The SDA effect is truly stunning when the are properly set up. I know they will be the weak link in the system and I am thinking the B&W 800's are a good replacement in the future. I will however enjoy the Polks for awhile as I said they were the impetus for me getting back into 2 channel audio, and they really sound great. I love this hobby and this is great website with lots of information.

If you pull this: http://vr3mods.com/uploads/SDA_Handbook_2011_Rev2.pdf It contains a list of models and serial numbers than can use the SDA transformer interconnect (mode AI-1) that allows you to use non-common ground amps. I'm running a heavily upgraded pair of SDA SRS 2.3 TL with a pair of tube monoblock amps and version of the AI-1, and it's a decent little setup. If you hunt around, you can even find part #s and specs to build your own upgraded version of that cable. Just depends on how handy you are and/or feel.
