Poor Richie Porte. Two years in a row he crashes out on stage 9. Still not clear if a spectator caused the crash or was simply where it took place. 25mph+ on the cobblestones. Ouch.

Stage 11 was a great race. Team Sky were brilliant both in effort and tactics. They won the stage and now have the Maillot Jaune and second place overall.

Can’t wait for tomorrow and Alpe d’Huez!!

Yep. Can't see anyone beating Froome if he doesn't crash. Greatest stage-race rider of the post-2000 era (and a Brit, as well ). Cavendish is no slouch in the sprints, though not what he once was.

For any of you other wannabe stage-racers, we're planning on riding the Camino de Santiago (Spainish part) in the fall of 2019.

Thomas - Froome, reminds me of the '12 tour where Froome was better than Wiggins but he had to hold back to let his captain win.
Now Froome is the captain...

Even the yellow jersey was working for Froome today. But have to hand it to Thomas. Another tough day won!

What incredible scenery!

Thomas seem much better on the climb to Alpe D"Huez today. I hope he wins the overall. He won the stage even pacing Froome (lost all respect from him and Armstrong) up the climb. Just for the record, when I raced amateur road and track in the 1980's I competed in a sprint track event at the Encino Velodrome and beat a rider who would become the future national champion about three years later. When I beat him he had just started racing and had not received "special help". Three years later, BOOM! There has been drug usage since the dawn of competitive cycling. Witnessed our team manager return from Belgium with drugs.

Virtually every athlete in the tour receives "special help".

Yep.......... am always of two minds about whether Pantini, Armstrong, etc., were treated unfairly. Were they simply the ones who got caught? Are today's riders simply more sophisticated at dodging the tests? Whatever, is a great race.

The test's are much more advanced than in Lance's day and I don't think Sky are shifting hotels a la Lance when his spies informed him the testers were coming. Plus they got Pantani on an elevated 'crit level in the early 00's, and I doubt Sky are cowering solid gold whistle blowers into silence the way Lance did either, though I may be wrong.
