Speakers to pair with Marantz 2275
I have two perfect 2275 receivers from the early mid 70's. I would like to find a recent speaker model that would pair well this this vintage Marantz. I have Omega speakers using one 2275 in a smaller room. This second unit would be in a large room with high ceilings. I would consider a vintage speaker but it would need to be something I could find in great condition easily. I would also prefer floorstanders as I do not want to need use of a sub.
Thanks for your recommendations.

Price range? I have run a pair of Infinity Primus 362's with a Marantz 2230 which sounded very nice. and fairly reasonable for a floor stander. New under $400 a pair shipped. FWIW They matched up nicely with the Marantz's warm nature. :^)

I would consider any full range speaker to about $2000.00. Being a fan of Klipsch, I certainly should consider a Heresy III. I do want to make sure that they are fairly efficient, at least 90db.
I am a little surprised that almost 50 people have opened this thread with only one response. I guess I should have said it was a Mac receiver.

It is not being Mac or not, it was not knowing the decision parameters. I try not to just say Wilson Audio every time someone says speakers. Based on what you just said, The Heresy III's sound like a good idea.

I used Cornwall II's with the 2275 when I had it. Might even be able to find a pair of Cornwall III's near your price range.

Do the Cornwall III's come in any finish other than black?

Standard finish-Black, Walnut or Cherry.
For additional cost, they can be ordered with just about any veneer that you can think of. Link http://www.audioaficionado.org/klips...html#post58645 |

Heresy's, Cornwall's if you can find a good pair used, JBL 4311 ...
lots of Vandersteen models (I had the 2ce) out there within your price range. ... those were all the models I liked that I matched successfully with my Marantz (which moved out years ago).
