For $30K, VPI needs to pretty up the plinth. This is very plain Jane looking for that kind of dosh.

Their Web site notes a rosewood finish is available.

What did you have in mind?

Nothing specific in mins except that for $30K it needs to look a lot nicer than it does, notwithstanding that sonics are the first priority and apparently it delivers on that front.

As they say, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. I don't think the CD looks any better, nor any worse, than its similarly priced competitor's tables.

If it has better feet, It would look really kool.

Hi Myles

Can you try some Stillpoints Ultra 5's in place of the ugly HRX feet? It will look better as well as I am sure sound better.

Not sure why Shane? The SRA takes care of everything!?!? For me, the acid test is comparing the sound of the 15 ips tape to the LP, not what you think things should sound like. With the Atlas, the table is a damned good facsimile - sometimes even scarily good - of the tape. Of course, it also depends especially so now more than ever before, on the quality of the phono section and phono cable. That phono section/cable better be resolving, low noise and transparent and dynamic. Especially dynamic in the lower octaves.

I am a big fan of the suspended plinths for TT's.

My Verdier is suspended itself, but I added a custom made PAB Reference SE platform for it.
It does an incredible job in isolating the Verdier from the rest of the world.

Hi Myles

I just don't like feet. They were unattractive on my HRX and no better on the otherwise gorgeous table IMO.

Stillpoints only mentioned as they will generally sound better than standard feet. Pick something else

I am sure the SRA is doing its job.
