RFI pollution
Help me sort this out. A few times I've noticed when the table is not playing records, I hear some radio or some other source of pollution through my speakers. Sounds like RFI to me, what else can it be. It's usually some Spanish Language broadcast... To add insult to injury I don't even understand what they are saying...
If I mute the Bellari phono stage, it disappears.. So, I guess it's not the cables after the phono stage that are picking it up and not the preamp. So I guess it must be the tonearm cables? |

Serge Marconi, maybe you are picking up a SETI broadcast!

I am not sure how you can remove it other than try moving the phono stage around to see if that reduces the RFI. You new 324 won't have that issue thou |

Serge.......Have you tried removing the turntable leads from the Bellari phono stage, then listening without muting the phono preamp?

Where do you live? Sometimes CB radios and other types of radio interference occurs and is so strong it can be picked up in the most unlikely of places- like your oven. You are probably experiencing something similar, or a dead relative/friend is trying to contact you from beyond the grave.

The other day I turned everything on, starting spinning a record, no sound... Realized I forgot to plug the little wall-wart plug into the back of Bellari, did that, the speakers made a loud pop and the Lamms went into protection mode.... I thought I blew something for sure. Nope, the Lamm's just sat their blinking their little red eyes. Turned them off and back on, everything OK thank God. I'll never do that again. |

Uh Oh! You broke the cardinal rule. Never plug or unplug anything while energized. But you already know that. Try the line out from a MCD500 direct to a pair of MC501's. That will tighten the ol' sphincter muscle in a hurry, not to mention damn near give you a heart attack trying to turn it off. Instinct has you jumping for the preamp volume knob, when you should be going for the MCD500 Stop button. Phew.....hair raising experience, let me tell you.
