SLP-05 Capacitor Change

Please keep us posted. Would be most interested in which caps Cary ships the SLP 05 with and what you might go to as an upgrade. Neither your SLP 05 nor my SLP 03 have any upgrades listed as being available. Makes me wonder what's inside. Will likely have to do some investigating once I've finished with the SLI 80 upgrade.

I've owned or tried every Cary tube preamp from the 98 to the 05 I currently own. I had Cary upgrade the caps in my SLP-2002 to Mundorf Silver, which made a great improvement. I asked Cary awhile ago about upgrading the caps in the 05 and was told that it would not make much difference. They have turned over their tech staff since my 2002 was upgraded, so take it as you will.

I have been speaking to Marc in tech support and he was pretty clear about the fact that a caps change could improve the sound.

I am going with 6 V-Caps for the output stage and 6 v-caps for the bypass. I'll let you guys know what it sounds like in a month or so.
