I love the smell of new equipment in the morning. Smell, that burning in smell, all over the room, smells like ... Victory.

Spent Friday at the show. A lot of great equipment, some great sound and a couple of ear-bleeders that made you wonder what they were thinking. My favorites:

Robert Lee's Acoustic Zen with Triode electronics. The AZ Crescendo speakers driven by Triode's TRX-M845SE mono blocks sounded gorgeous, and Mr. Lee is a gracious host ("wait, you must hear this!"). The Triode amps are among the biggest and most beautiful I've seen.

Bryston, got to spend some time playing with the mpad app listening to the bdp/bdp combination and their smaller stand mount speaks. I've been debating adding a bdp to my system, I think this experience sealed it.

Sumiko, playing the new Sonus Faber Olympica III powered by ARC Ref 75 and newly released preamp (I think the SP22?). Jesse Luna was very friendly and spent some time showing off the Olympicas and discussing equipment pairing options. These are gorgeous speakers and sound terrific at a price of only $11500.

Home-town Seattle's Elliott Studio Arts with their hand-built tube amps powering DC10 Audio horn speakers. I didn't jot down model numbers, but the sound was fantastic.

The Zesto room: this is definitely the sexiest equipment, beautify styling and very nice sound as well.

Overall a great experience for my first-ever hifi show. Sorry, I only took a couple of pictures and they didn't come out very well.

I almost forgot the real highlight. My wife was with me (she's a great supporter of my passion). She saw the KL Audio Ultrasonic Record Cleaner, asked the price ($4k), and then said "that's really cool, you should put that on your Christmas list".

The quid pro quo for her show attendance is today we're going to the orchid show at the Denver Botanic Gardens.
