I feel like the new C22 looks are like the original C22, sort of mixed w/the C24 with a little flavor from 1980's Mc gear and then the modern red power button. One of the things I like about Mc gear is that, to me, all the vintages pair well together. My MR74 looked right at home with my C2300, the new C22 seems almost like a mishmash of vintages. I'm sure it'll sell quite well, I'm glad they are releasing new all analog preamps.
Fixed outputs are still really useful. For example you can use them to output to a recorder or computer. Makes it really easy to record records. Also in my case I'm using the fixed output to power my Sennheiser wireless headphones. Not sure how well they will work with a variable input.

I'm was considering trading my C47 for one of these but the lack of a fixed output is a bit of a concern.

I’m truly surprised no one here on AA has bought this monster amp.

Sadly, I can't remember reading any personal experiences with the 70th Anniversary components or the 901s either

These are two very recent "reviews" of both the 1502 and C22.

Take them at face value.

Both units look like they would make a tremendous impact in my room. But alas, it'll likely not happen.
