I don't have any first hand experience with it, but one thing to note is that the US distributor mentioned in the video's description no longer has anything to do with this company's products. He was initially strongly promoting, selling it and claiming to support his customers with any needed US service, but it was a short lived association. Now he's bad mouthing the product which he previously praised and no longer sells or supports it. I believe that US sales are now factory direct. This DAC definitely has its supporters and the manufacturer has a good reputation from owner comments I've seen.

The Denafrips Aries is also of interest; Steve Guttenberg reviewed it recently and really liked it very much. It sells for just about USD $1000.

Now it's back to buying from Alvin at Vinshine Audio as was the case originally. Alvin's a stand up guy.

I have extensively lived with this dac.
Fantastic for the money. Very capable in all audiophile tick boxes except: transparency, dynamic, details. When i say except , i m very extreme, cause it is good but not really good, for exemple chord dave outperformed it in these requirements. I had dave also many times in my system , but lacked that body texture tonality the denfs give. I wanted a dac with dave musculature and denafrips refinement tonality misicality and went with aries cerat kassandra ref2. I got what i needed and much much more. A friend own the denafrips, he recently added the dsp new module and he said it went up 2 notch musically. Very nice dac, but i needed the best. Regards |
