It has the capability to output whatever your DAC can take. I have yet to find a limitation (although perhaps a bit of insanity with stuff going over 24/192 or over standard DSD - the flavour of the month club if you will).

E I think he is asking if it will store and output 32/384 files (not that there are too many available)

As I inferred, your DAC would well run out of steam before Silenzio did. 384k(+) is supported by JRiver as of V18, iirc.

Am currently using a MacBook Pro running Audirvana+ (with an NAS) connected via USB to a Playback Designs DAC (up to DSD).

What kind of performance improvements might I expect with the Silenzio? And could I still use Audirvana+ or would I have to switch to JRiver?

JRiver. A+ is only on OSX. Silenzio uses Win7 (on purpose).

You'd have a piece of gear that actually looks like a piece of gear instead of a laptop mucking up the view. The hardware side is also more robust (superior SSD, motherboard, full throttle CPU, RAM that is beastly, and a myriad of connectivity).

Sonic improvements - yes. The Win7+JRiver environment sound better than OSX+Anything. Don't ask me why - I can't explain it to a science, but every time we have a/b'd it there was a collective "yep" moment.

You can also rip anything aside from a SACD (need a Gen1 PS3 for that) in true archive-grade bit perfection.

Impressive rig, by the way.

I got my new Silenzio over the weekend and hooked it up last night. As I am fairly familiar with at least the basics of JRiver, it was a snap to get going. I am using a new exaSound e22 DAC...more to come shortly on this little wonder...and the sound is very, very good. Very easy to browse and select my music collection via Gizmo or JRemote. The convenience of this and the great sound almost make me almost forget about my LP collection. Almost. ;-)

I'll look forward to breaking in the new DAC and seeing how far down the rabbit hole this setup will take me! :-)

Welcome again to the world of the Silenzio. What is GIZMO? Tried searching online but there are too many other types of 'Gizmo' out there and my search skills are not good enough. (did you know there are multiple bands around the world named Gizmo?)
