New 800's coming, end if year
I was told by a couple of UK dealers who prefer to remain anonymous that B&W will release an update to the 800 series by the end of the year. Indications are that the structural changes are large, a major revision. Also likely to cost 30% more. Can't wait to see and hear them!!

If true then I suspect they would look quite a bit different as I don't see how a structural change would lead to a 30% increase in price given that the inside of the cabinets are predominately MDF are they not? So I would expect a major cosmetic shift for such a price increase. That's my hunch.
On the other hand 30% wouldn't seem like enough if say they were to introduce diamond midrange drivers, that would likely add even more to the overall cost. |

Makes the dilemma tougher for me, to get the current ones at 30% off compared to new ones costing 30% more. That's a big spread

When they say 800's do they mean the series or just the flagship? So the 802 update later or at the same time?

You will find out FACTS and make your decision based on that, not unsubstantiated rumors you heard online. I'm sure you will know those facts before the old 800 series disappears off the shelves. |

This would be at around the 6YR mark when they first introduced the current series, in around the usual timeline of a revamp. I've had by 802's ever since they were unveiled at CES 2010 and I have been very pleased with them. I am curious to see the direction B&W takes with the new series and how much more improvement (change of flavor), they can make.
Hoping to see they address the new line to support a multi-channel environment. |

"If" the new series comes with a 30% increase in price then B&W's top speakers, in my opinion, would no longer hold the title as the best value in high end audio.

I also have my doubts about this price increase. I don't see B&W, that has always been a very sensible company, suddenly leave this market segment to other brands.
