Default D-02X in the house!

Got my D-02X in tonight and right out of the box I am completely at a loss for words describing how good this Dac is. I had an EMM Labs DA2 then went to the new K-01XS and thought that while very close I personally liked the way the Esoteric sounded. Enter the D-02X ... it’s the best sounding Dac I’ve ever had in my system by a very long shot. If you haven’t listened to this unit and are considering anything in its price range you should definitely take a listen. I’ll give it a good review once I’ve had a chance to listen more in depth. This will end my Dac quest I’ve been on the past two years!

Ivan told me it would be no small upgrade to my K-01XS which I’m using as a transport at this point. That was a huge understatement for sure. Big thanks good sir for helping me get the best sound at home I’ve ever had. Perfect transaction as usual! I’ll add the P-02X probably this spring then offer up the
k-01xs for a great price.

More to come ...

George

Thanks Gary! I haven’t been this happy with a digital product since waaay back in the day when I first fired up my California Audio Labs Aria MkIII. That of course wouldn’t compete with anything today but back in the 80s that thing did magic ... and so does the D-02X!

Great job George

Glad they found the missing package. Cannot wait to hear the beast that beat the DA2

Default Question about Esoteric Dacs

Do any of the current Esoteric Dacs decode SACD? I am writing this in response to the D-02X unit that is being used with an Esoteric player.

It will but only with the P-02X transport because none of the Esoteric all in one CD players like the k-01xs will output the encrypted data stream as is required for all sacd products. The less expensive P-05X will also do this but with this Dac it makes sense to go with the higher end unit to take full advantage of the Dac. That’s why once the piggy bank is full again I’ll sell the k-01xs I’m using as a cd transport right now and go all in with the P-02X.
