Those wall of cones remind me of stacked speakers one sees at a concert venue. No doubt they put out a lot of decibels. That's a lot of coins too. Wilson and Magico remind me of the cylinder and horsepower wars Mercedes-Benz and BMW engaged in a decade ago.

I briefly considered Alexx before deciding to keep my Maxx3. With my A-Frame ceiling I really like the classic D'Appolito design to limit vertical dispersion. I couldn't figure out why I would be trading my Maxx3, since there was nothing I didn't like about their sound. Also, every driver in the Maxx3 is a genuine classic, having been used in Wilson designs including the X-2 for over a decade. I have no doubt Alexx is the superior speaker but I'll just stick with my Maxx3 which is a true classic and a much simpler design.

Wow - an amazing expression of restraint from Charles, of which we should all likely take note.

Unfortunately I was not able to express the same restraint on my side! Just sold my beloved Aida and got a pair a Alexx to match my pair of Thors! I am in heaven!

Did you take delivery of the Alexx? How does it compare to AIDA?

Hi Joey, yes I did take delivery of the Alexx. Still in the burn-in period. I have ~325 hours on them already. Your question is a very good one but also a loaded question! What I mean is whatever I could say would be very subjective as these are two of the best speakers I had the chance to audition and have. I plan to answer this question very soon once I get more critical listening on them.

So far I am blown away by the Alexx in every way! Given I already had a pair of Thor Hammer, the intergration of the Alexx with the Thors is unbelievable ...

More to come soon I promise!

JCR, congrats. I thought it somewhat likely you might move to Wilson. Alexx is a perfect choice for you with the Thors. You should have better integration than with your Aida's. I run my Maxxes full range with a LP set at 30 Hz. The key (at least for me) is the ruggedness of the Maxx 3 woofers which I have yet to overload with extremely low frequency material of which I have an abundance.

The Alexx should really shine in your system. Are you running them full range with the Thors?
