I also noticed a couple of hydra 2's pop up and have been thinking about them to plug my amps into. As i am running an active speaker system i have 4 amps, so thought this would be perfect. Thank you kindly for the welcome |

Thanks, been lurking a bit but enjoying the stay.
As I'm based in Europe I have the Triton Schuko/240v EU version. It actually has 10 Schuko outlets. US version has 8 outlets. Now, in regards to the Triton vs. Talos, they have the same (active?) filtering on every outlet. But the three NIC (Noise Isolation Chamber) with the noise absorption compound are of bigger volume in the Triton than the Talos. So Triton will remove more grunge/noise than Talos on the incoming line but between components the same outlet-filters are used in both editions. But other factors still apply, separating source and amps on separate Talos:es and two dedicated lines would probably be of greater benefit than having a single Triton on a single 110/220V line (double the instant current capacity vs more effective filtration on the incoming line). In regards to the older Hydras v1/v2 vs Talos/Triton I would say this is a massive performance increase. Much more than going from V1 to V2. I thought the old ones struggled a bit with video and had a bit of edge/glare that is just transformed into transparency and information and naturalness on the Triton. I think also the competition will have to step up to keep up with Shunyata now. There is a Hydra Cyclops (2-outlet Triton) made for amps or other highperformance projectors or gear coming soon. I have no idea of the formfactor but I'm intrigued, thinking of putting two Meridian DSP8000 front speakers on it. Last edited by Crion; 01-18-2012 at 06:06 AM. |

Welcome Crion.
They kept US outlet plugs on the AU 240v version. Suits me as I am using Furutech Flux connectors. Not perfect, even though the Furutech AC plugs are totally dead, their wide diameter means they touch & angle slightly as a result of the close paired outlet spacings on the Talos. Hydra Cyclops. Perfect for isolating mono block amps. Will be asking my dealer about this. Last edited by MyPal; 01-18-2012 at 07:52 AM. |
