Andrew
I upgraded from the TA Ref MM2 to to the Gen 5 XL in my primary system, it was quite a significant improvement. I also use the TA Ultra Gen 5 on secondary systems which was also an upgrade which was significant. I would suggest purchasing the Ultra rather than the MM2. I rather have the latest model of signal cable and if you want to upgrade you can trade in for Gen 5 Ref at 60 to 70% of the retail value of the Ultra. Upgrading to the next level of MM2 would not make sense and you would need to upgrade to Gen 5 XL for the trade in which would be very expensive.

Thanks for the advice. One more plus in favor of Ultra

Transparent Cable rocks!
I have all my system connected with this cables (Reference XL & Powerlink MM powercords, Reference Digital, Ultra Bicable MM2 for loudspeakers, Reference XL balanced interconnects).
Expensive but brings amazing results

I'm comparing Ultra gen 5 ic's to Super mm2 ic's and can't tell the difference. Good, I'll be saving some money. Fwiw, I also compared the ultra gen 5 SC's to my reference mm2 SC's and there are small differences. I think the ultra has a bit more bass energy. But it's not better in the mid and top end. I'm keeping what I have for now.

Here I am quoting myself.

After doing extensive listening, the gen 5 ic's seem to be "tuned" in a pleasing way over the supers. But that really concerns me. I don't want my wires to be tuned. I have friends that have told me that TA stuff is tuned, and I told them I didn't believe it, or that I didn't care, but now I think I do. I want neutral, not something tuned. The reason I say this is because these interconnects CLEARLY bump up the bass response. It's not "letting more through"...it's manipulated. At least that's how I feel about it right now.

I have mm 2 Reference and Reference xl cabling in my system. I don't think they sound "tuned". After just coming back from a concert with the Stravinsky"s The Rite of Spring, I am pleased with my system sounding so life-like wired with this level of Transparent..

I never felt mm2 sounded "tuned", either. I'm talking about gen 5.

Anyone have any experience with the "High Performance DIY" 10-2 cable? I need about 80' total which prices out a lot of the highest end cables.
