No. Maybe you need to do the upgrade.

You're right--does it work automatically if I'm connected by cat5?

You need to manually upgrade.

Thanks.

I haven't upgraded since I bought the thing--Will it skip "generations" of firmware OK?

One way around the issue is to send PCM from the Blu-ray player and then apply Dolby PLIIx to use the rear channels.'

(I don't use a subwoofer and do not expand audio files.)
Thanks everyone who answered the second question.

Someone who can say something about the first question - see above?

No. Perhaps its time for you to upgrade the software.

No way, what Sony and what processor is reporting 24 bit depth? It is likely a mistake.

No mistake here. All my Sonys play SACD @ 176.4/24 PCM. They are the XA-5400ES, BDP-S780 and the PS3. The processor is the Bryston SP3.

2 issues. I've been a very happy owner for about a year and a half. I got the upgrade sent to me by one of the engineers at Bryston. Is there another procedure now? Is it worthwhile?
Secondly, is there a way to turn off the 12 volt trigger for a specific input? I have used the SP3 only for home theater duties. I recently started using it as a video switcher and to lower the screen via one of the triggers. Due to the configuration in my room, I'd like the screen NOT to trigger when I use the USB input with my Mac Mini. I only recently got around to hooking the music system back up and the screen seriously affects the room acoustics. I had originally used a trigger on the back of my projector, but it's not very reliable. Unfortunately, the local dealer from whom I bought the used unit has dropped Bryston as a line, so I can;t ask him.

Thanks,
David Shapiro
