New Olive Software Update
Olive just announced another software update.
Changes in software version O.4.1.5 and M.4.1.5, released 03/03/11 New Features -Tapping on the artwork cover within the artwork navigation will list the tracks of the selected album -Network password is preset if network was entered before (doesn't apply to the O2M/Melody) -File type, bit depth and more details are shown when the quality bar is selected within the detailed playscreen (down button will also activate this informational window) -A complete album can be added to a playlist Improvements and bug fixes -If system can't find the metadata of a CD it will time out and show as unknown -Network name can contain special characters like - ' (not + : and &) -Artwork cover browsing is more responsive -Switching to HDMI and back will now stay within the menu and not go back to the start screen -Japanese and French language corrections -Interference with other remote controls resolved -Pop sound between HD tracks resolved Last edited by Still-One; 03-08-2011 at 10:19 PM.

Olive continues to upgrade their software with both enhancement and bug fixes. Here are the release notes on the latest upgrade.
Changes in software version O.4.1.7 and M.4.1.7, released 08/08/11 New Features -Up to 5 different metadata options will be displayed with the option to choose during CD ripping -Up to 4 different album artworks will be available with the option to choose during CD ripping -User can manually enter the album and artist name of the inserted CD if no metadata or the wrong metadata is found -The album artwork search engine has been changed to Google images for improved accuracy, options, and image quality -Option to update the time and date through the internet (O3HD: date/time can now be displayed) -Polish language support is now available -New internet radio database is online with new popular stations like Alice, KOIT, several new Danish and Turkish stations -A lot more track informations are now shown within the play screen like: Period, ---Additional Performers or Record Label Improvements and bug fixes -B&W Sound of Society tracks now play without any distortion -Playback of FLAC files has improved (resolves skips for certain tracks) -System will automatically re-try to establish a connection to the selected Internet Radio stations -Support of Danish radio stations -USB software updates can no longer be installed onto wrong Olive device (starting with 4.1.7) -Specific router/encryption mode no longer leads to skips while system is set to wifi Interference with DigiOn DMS resolved

I'm seriously considering getting a 4HD for myself. I've lurked around here long enough to know that this gang will not tolerate BS and shoot it down on sight so when I see a lot of you as happy as you apparently are with them it makes my confidence level go up.
At this stage, I'd appreciate a "pros/cons/here's what you need to know and look out for" as a newcomer should I get this thing. Some details I'm trying to ice down: My memory is foggy on this but in the past I thought I'd seen some people complain about some limits on certain types of files or least bitrates or some such. Does that mean anything to anyone? The other thing that I've seen on occasion is complaints of discs getting stuck. How does one deal with that should it happen? USB slot: If some day someone runs through all 2TB...which would take me a LONG time to say the least...then what? Can they add an external USB hard drive and just keep on going if they want to? And how is the software these days? Customer support? ^^ These are the kinds of considerations I'm thinking about. It will be connected to a Wyred 4 Sound DAC-2 which I can echo others around here as to what an incredible piece of kit it is. Thanks for your time. Great forum! I haven't heard about any discs ever being stuck. Software updates, and support is quite good.
