Best Sir,

I think crwilli was quoting used prices for the pair of MC275's too.

Yes I was and have edited my post to be clearer.

The list price of one MC275VI is $5,500. A pair of MC2301s is $24,000.

I know its hard to put into words but any input would be great.
Yes, I'm not a very good word smith. I guess, in my case, the C1100 allows me to hear everything I need from the music and the 1.2KW's amplify that beautifully.

I have a fairly good sized room so I auditioned the above with SF's Lilium and Wilson Audio's Alexx and Alexia I & II. I preferred the way the 1.2kw's commanded the speakers over the other two choices.

List prices are irrelevant. What can you buy 2 MC275's for today that include new tubes and from a trusted seller vs. what Bob is selling his MC2301's for (with new tubes and known/unquestioned condition? That was my point. I was trying to be helpful.

I appreciated the help Brian.

From someone who had mono MC275's, there is no like-for-like comparison between them & a pair of MC2301's. Period. They are completely two different tube amps of course -- it's just the bigger amp 'out smacks' the other. Everyone I know who has gone from mono MC275's to MC2301's basically says the same thing in so many words.

Getting back on topic, both though work extremely well with the C1100. Marvelous really.

Best Sir,

Bob

I am bi amping 601s (woofer) and 2301s (mids, tweeters) from my C1100. I have rolled all tubes (MP1100, C1100, and 2301s) to Gold Lions. Once the tubes get good and warmed up, it’s like you could just get up and walk around the room and stand next to the musicians while they’re playing. It is the cleanest, most open sound I have ever heard. No kidding, I could make a commercial for this combination. Get the 601s and the 2301s both. I have recently traded in the JBL 1400/1500s for some B&W 800 D3s and a set of JL Audio Gothums. The JBLs were no slouch, but these B&W/Gotham’s are almost sexual.
