Default Saturday Riddle - Make a Connection!

Hi all,

I am back with another mini-challenge and my project for this weekend: connecting all the trigger cables in my system.

Components:

C2600
MC452 (soon to be 2x MC601)
Emotiva Amp (for surrounds)
MX122
MB50

Use Cases:

1. 2-channel listening

I need the C2600 + MC452 + MB50 turned on (no MX122, Emotiva)

2. Watching movies

I need the MX122 + MC452 + Emotiva turned on (no MB50)

I have all the trigger cables I need, just having trouble finding the right way to connect them.
Can someone please help me solve this puzzle?

Also, when I put in the two 601's instead of the 452, I assume I just connect them together?

Thank you!

Which Emotiva amp are you using? A universal remote might be the best answer here.

Using an XPA3 3 channels. It has trigger in and trigger out.
I am sure there is a way to connect everything using trigger cables, just need to nail down the sequence.

Have a look at the MX122 manual - it should have an excellent diagram of this. Should also be in the C2600 manual. They say a picture is worth 1,000 words.

Going to look now. Thank you. I did not remember they had a trigger diagram.

Here's how I would do it.
C2600 power trigger out to MC 452.
MX 122 power trigger out to XPA-3
MX 122 passthru out to C2600 passthru in.
MB50 power trigger in to C2600 trigger out for the input the MB50 is connected to.

Power up the C2600 and the MC 452 will power up. Select the MD50 input and the MB 50 will power up. 2 channel here we come!

Power up the MX 122 and the xpa-3 will power up. The C2600 will also power up in passthru mode. It will in turn turn on the 452. Movie time!

I have my system set up this way. While it uses a C1100 and MX150, it works perfectly and the C2600 / MX 122 operate in a similar fashion.

The only thing I'm unsure of is how the C2600 handles power triggers for the source equipment.

I use a harmony remote and have set up activities like "Watch a movie" or "Listen to Vinyl"

Works great.

Tom

Thanks so much Tom. Going to give it a try and let you know if it works. I am trying to avoid buying a universal remote if I can.

I'll help you pull it together if you have any problems.
I found my C1100 and MX-151 remotes controlled power for both units. So I used the alternate code set for the C1100. This is described somewhere either in the manual or a separate McIntosh document.
Then you don't really need a universal remote and both systems are separately controlled from their remotes.

Thank you so much. I could not complete the trigger wiring as my new 601s arrived today, had to give those beauties the deserved attention :-)
Will keep you posted once I am back from CES next week.

Hey W9TR, do I wired everything and I think that I got it right except for one thing: when I turn my MC122 on, which triggers the C2600 and 601s, they all turn on with the meter lights off. How can I change it?

Thank you!
