Glad to hear you got a successful result and are back in business. I bought two of those drives almost exactly 3 years ago, different supplier but claimed to be "new". One never booted at all and the other has run the three years, until this episode. Is now at the tech so will see if it is the drive, but could well be. He will also check/unplug key cables as this has reported to be an issue as well as apparently not gold contacts. Much appreciate your input.

Or you could purchase a Roon device that connects to your network and leave the MS-300 just sitting there and no one would ever know. The interface is light years ahead of the MS300 and much easier to use than Aurenders too.

Here is the update on my "brick". Took it to the tech and he removed the 750 gb drive that was clicking and no booting. He tried unplugging and re-connecting all the key connectors, still no go. He installed my Maxtor 300 gb drive, working when removed some years ago. He stated it would not boot even after 15 minutes of trying. I went to see him this am expecting the worst (Main board) and he told me all this and said: "Here, take a look". He plugged in the unit and the red light flashed and he said "See?" Then all of a sudden, after maybe a minute, it went solid red, did a system check for a minute or so (% run up to 100%), then the logo and panel lit up and there was the music menu! We both stood there with our mouths open. He will now install a better fan and clean all the connectors. I tell you sometimes there is no rhyme or reason to this stuff but it makes me wonder how many units out there that have been scrapped can be brought back to life with some resetting, cleaning of connectors or just trying them on another day. Completely crazy!

Perhaps! After the Beatles called themselves by their original band name - the Quarrymen - and before they settled on calling themselves "The Beatles," the band was known by the name ... "The Silver Beatles." (You can look it up.) So it makes sense that the silver Aurender lists the Beatles as the group. Maybe. If you don't mind a stretch. That means the Aurender in black goes back to Bach.

Great Trivia!

This did turn out to be a bad hard drive, the 750 gb installed 8/14 so it did not go the hoped for 5 years. (I bought two back then and one never did boot, so not sure the "new" claim was true.) Have now re-installed the original Maxtor 300 gb drive temporarily until new drive arrives. Am entering the 9th year with this unit which I bought used. A main board, rebuilt power supply and one blown drive to date. Just now replaced the fan with a higher cfm Silenx. Like keeping an old classic car on the road, but I still like how it sounds and what it does.
