Default 700/701 jumper

Hi,
When use Soulution 700 or 701 in Mono Mode. We have to connect jumper
between two black speaker out terminals.
Is there a current flow in this jumper ? Do we need a more luxurious jumper
instead of a thin one supplied by Soulution ?
I am just curious how on earth such an expensive amp comes with this kind
of jumper. One reason I can think of is that it may be no current flow thru this.
Toga.

this is bridge mono. you short the ground together of two physical amp n you application a positive signal to amp 1 and a negative signal to amp 2. the result is you get twice the voltage swing to your speaker hence you get power increase. The jumper here is a copper plate. In some amp, there is an internal switch to short the 2 together. For the soulution, this allow you send two identical signal to 2 channel and you may be able to play bi-amp too.

Thank you ,So practically there is no music signal flows between two black terminals.
But no more worries for me as new 701 does not require any external jumper anymore.

It is more like clamping the two amp ground together to achieve the same reference voltage. Signal won't flow from one terminal to the other but if they are lifted, the amp will not work properly as the reference point are broken.

Hi Toga,

Did you purchase Soulution 701's for your Q7's?

Hi Ken,
Not yet. But studying the feasibility. The sound of Q3 driven by 720+700 Mono was so memorable to me. So yes, I like it.
But also, when I heard Q7 driven by two 700 in bi amp mode. I was not that impressed. I like it more in mono mode.
Anyway, I doubt I can afford the 701. I didn't consider it the last time before I purchase Gryphon because Soulution has
very low input impedance that my ARC tube preamp will never be compatible. and now still very happy with pure class A Gryphon.
it is just that the sound the mono 700 driving Q3 is unforgettable to me too.

Toga.

Hi Toga,
Nice to hear that you like the gryphon.
How would you compare it to the Soulution 700/701 in terms of transparency & resolution?
Thanks a heap,
TJ
