Here is another poor soul affected by MA252 speaker buzz. I have AC and DC filters to prevent "bad current" from entering my amp, but still this volume control independent buzz is coming through my speakers. Ground lift does not help either.

I have not noticed it originally, and do not know if it was there at the beginning, but it is here now.... Not loud, one needs to be within a couple of feet from a speaker to hear it. Unfortunately, once you realized that it is there, you always hear it unless music is playing... It's a curse!

My dealer is relatively far from me. I called and they say that if I bring my amp to them, and the issue is confirmed, they will ship amp to McIntosh for repair and it may take 4-6 weeks to get it back... Not sure if I want to do this or live with the noise or sell my amp..

A couple of weeks ago I was at an audio event at Georgia Home Theater and in one room they had an MA252 connected to a pair of Klipsch Forte IIIs and streaming music. No one was around and so I was playing with the system and I remembered this thread. With my ear right up to the speaker it was dead quiet at any volume level with no music playing. Good unit. No buzz, no hum, no hiss. In fact I thought it was fantastic. I wish it was in the cornwall room instead. Just thought I would mention.

I heard the MA252 powering a pair of highly acclaimed Resolution Audio MM2s a week or so ago and it sounded awesome. Totally quiet.

As mentioned several times in this thread, roll in some good tubes and your problem will likely go away.

If you have to put your ear up to the tweeter of a speaker to hear noise in a tube component you don't have a problem.

Curious if anyone has tried damping rings on the tubes?

Default just about to buy an amp and speakers

Are you happy with the set up. I have half way agreed upon a MA252 and the xr50 speakers with the dealer. My heart is aiming for the MA8900 although its a bit more pricy... What do you recommend. What about Streaming and/or CD player for the system.....?
