Eduardo.......The chance of running across another single first edition JBL L100 is slim to none. Perhaps you can build a modest mono system around the one you have.

Slim maybe, but I do see single L100's go up for sale from time to time, both early and late versions.

I think it would be a shame to part-out this speaker. It is a true part of Audio History. Be patient maybe you will find another "orphan". They will reward you with great sound and be part of the family.

+1. I sold my L100A's in 1982 so I could buy my L220A's. While there is no comparison in performance, to this day I still miss my L100's. They are an audio classic indeed.

The good news is, the fellow that I sold the L100's to (who now lives in Missouri) sold me back the original JBL stands that I sold to him with the speakers....23 years later. I was thrilled to have the stands back, which I now use with my 4313B's.

Who knows, maybe one day Paul will sell me back my L100's....

Eduardo: I think you made a very wise decision !

This reminds me of another orpain that was not so lucky. One of the stereo shops I frequent took in an Audio Research D110. This amp was from the mid 70's, was 100watts RMS. It used the power supply and chassis from the monster D350. So with all that power supply and very high bias it was one of the best sounding amps of it's day. Boy I lust after this amp even today. I'd go to the shop often and look at it trying to convince myself to buy it in spite of incurring the wrath of my better half. Here the story takes a turn for the worse. A young EE student decided to buy it for his dorm room. We talked many times and I tried to impress upon him the historic value and performance of this amp so he would lovingly care for it. Well he blew it up and decided to tare-apart the power-supply for its big caps. He used them elsewhere. Unfortunately a beautiful amp was lost forever, never to be enjoyed.
